Ruined Christmas?

You know what's the worst?

Being sick during the holidays.

Randomly, 5 days before Christmas, I came down with a severe cold. Making me useless until after Christmas. I couldn't go and get gifts for the family. Of course, they understood that I was in no condition to be driving anywhere but, I really wanted to get them presents this year. I practically ruined Christmas... for myself. My family was doing just fine.

Now I know I didn't ruin Christmas or anything, that would be a horrible exaggeration but, admittedly, I did feel a little bad.

Watching my parents and my sister open gifts from each other and express gratitude, appreciation, and love for the thoughtfulness made me feel like I haven't done enough. In the season of giving, I did not want to only receive gifts.

Well, I can't pity myself forever.

I have made a plan for next Christmas. I will make sure my immune system is strong for the winter and I will go out and get amazing presents for my family. Simple but, obtainable.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, I'll make sure to post before the new year.

Danielle LaPorte and her #TruthBomb

Hey Clickers,

Here's something interesting.

Recently, my mother found herself in yoga and this thought leader, Danielle LaPorte. Earlier this year we went to Wanderlust, Hollywood to see her speak. While my mother was enthralled with her speech taking down her wisdom with a pen and paper I, on the other hand, was not as impressed. Honestly, I've never been into the whole "motivational" speaker gig. Why pay someone to tell me something I already know? I digress.

Anyways, when we returned home my mother had bought Danielle's book, The Desire Map, and two boxes of cards called Truth Bombs.  She had a pink box and a gold box that held inspirational quotes.

For a couple of weeks, she read the book but, did not touch the cards until last week. She decided to pull one card from one box everyday.  One day it was the gold box, the other it was the pink and she alternated. This week she asked me to pick a card from the box with her. I agreed and picked a random card from the deck. I read it and found that the saying had a lot to do with what was going on in my life. I decided to pick from the other box and found that it had another profound statement applicable to my life.

So now, I've been picking two cards a day, one from the gold and another from the pink box.
Today my gold card said:
"Pay closer attention to your fantasies"
I found this intriguing because recently I've been trying to build up my brand and my presence on the internet. There is a lot that's going into it and I think that I should start looking at the smaller details of this big plan.
The pink card said:
"You don't need their approval"
This really struck me because, I've struggled with wanting/not wanting other people's approval. Human nature, I guess.  Currently, I'm conflicted on whether or not I should act on my emotions although it might upset a few of my friends. Although, I'm still conflicted, this card gave me a little push to think about it some more before I just jump into a decision.

Over this week these cards have been insightful and inspiring. I guess I had a small change of heart. This doesn't mean I'll live by her words and get into her books and such. I'll just take into considerations what these cards say, if they have something good to say.

You guys should check her out for yourselves and see what you think! I linked her website to her name.

Rushing into Things

Hey Clickers!

It's been a minute since I last talked to you guys, I'm sorry about that.
I wanted to write about something that has been going on in my life recently.

So, normally I try to look past lovey-dovey things like relationships because, like everyone else, I've had my heart broken multiple times.
When I have relationships, they are not the 2-month kind where it's just for kicks. My relationships had been the 9 months to 2 years kind of thing. I like to try and take my time getting to know the person I'm with.  What I hate is that I spend so much energy on this person, just to let them go. After my last relationship, I gave up on relationships.  I was tired of being with people who didn't respect me as much as I respected them.  I took this time to focus on myself and grow as a person. This turned into a 2-year hiatus.

Recently, I found that I wanted to get back into something steady. I knew what I wanted and I was sure I was going to get it.

There was this person who I thought was really cool and easy on the eyes. They met the standards that were deal breakers and had a great personality. I was content with pursuing them. I found out later that they felt the same about me and I was ecstatic.  Things never worked out quite that quickly.  I tried looking past it, hoping that life was throwing me a bone, just cause it's the holiday season.

Anyways, I got to hang out with the person a little while ago and talk to them about what was (possibly) going on between us.

It was in this moment that I feel like I messed up.

I told them I wanted a relationship, just something steady. I saw uncertainty cloud their eyes. They paused and said they wanted to see where things went. Totally reasonable and understandable right? Get this, I kept talking about it after that. For some reason, I had diarrhea of the mouth that day.  I kept hinting at future dates and parties I could invite them to... I cringe just thinking about it.

Here's the gag, we hadn't even gone on a date yet. Yep, way to go Jae.

Now here we are, a week later with radio silence.

I definitely rushed this whole courting thing...

I'll let you guys know if there are any change or developments.

-Jae

P.S. The next post will not be as cringy and odd!

You Guys Are The First To Know

Hey Clickers!

I thought I would switch it up and tell you guys the good news first!!

I'm back in the dorms! Which means I am back in school. And I can hear some of you guys saying "Why is this girl so excited to go back to school?". Well, although summer was fun and relaxing I'm glad I have a schedule again and that I get to further my education. (Yes, I'm a nerd like that.)

Hopefully, my motivation will stick with both school and the blogs!! Fingers crossed guys!

Have a great weekend Clickers!!

E.L.F

Hey Clickers!

Wanted to talk about wonderfully cheap makeup.

Ladies and Gents, I'm telling you, E.L.F products are the way to go when you want easy to afford makeup. Perfect for college students on a budget. E.l.f. cosmetics has saved my butt plenty of times.

Typically, you could get these products at any drug store but, if you can't find a certain shade or product they also have a website where you can order what you need for a low price as well.

If you want to know more about some E.l.f. products I like to use, check back later on my other blog
for a proper review!!

No, I am not sponsored by E.l.f. but, I'm hoping they'll see this and consider me. ;)

Have a good one Clickers,

Jae

Tossing Around Ideas

Hey Clickers!

I'm thinking about putting up another YouTube video.
I know I know, the first one was a little iffy and a tad rudimentary but, being successful means trial and error.

Maybe it could be a rant about things that tick me off... because there are A LOT of things on that list...

Anyways, I was thinking I could put a little twist on it, possibly a "Get Ready with Me" makeup video.

We'll see how it goes, but just know that I am working on it!

Have a fantastic weekend!,

Make Happy - Bo Burnham

Hey Clickers!

Yesterday one of my favorite comedians, Bo Burnham, put out a comedy special on Netflix. I've only watched the first 20 minutes of it to get a feel for it and so far I'm loving it.

I wanted to spread the word about this awesomeness, because who doesn't need a good laugh in life?

I hope you guys check it out on Netflix!

Tell me in the comments what you think of it!!

Botanical Gardens

Good Afternoon Clickers!

I was thinking you guys needed a little Jae in your day.

I wanted to tell you guys about how I went to the botanical garden yesterday with one of my friends from high school.

So, I hadn't seen my friend in awhile because he was in New york for college. Normally when he's in town we just go to a sushi place and catch up. We decided to switch it up this time. He randomly got tickets to the botanical garden from a relative and said it would be a cool place to get some pictures. I had never been to the botanical garden but, I heard it was pretty cool since there were so many different things to see there.

We get to the garden a few hours before dusk and found that it looked like a quiet zoo. Instead of there being a bunch of animals in habitats, there were a plethora of plants in habitats. I was a tad bit skeptical when I walked in because all I could see at first were a bunch of cacti, which pretty much sums up the desert but, as you take the different trails you see other plants that flourish in different parts of the state. I've lived in Arizona my entire life and I saw plants that I had never seen before.

My friend and I walked the entire garden in about 2 hours. It was a pretty big garden and once I saw the map I was a little nervous because I don't like to walk in the heat for long periods of time. There were a lot of shady parts to the garden that made the heat bearable. The trails were filled with so many different plants that I'm sure I probably missed one or two.

There was also natural wildlife living in the habitats. Animals like quail, rabbits, lizards, and even squirrels. I didn't even know we had squirrels in Arizona! That was a nice surprise, it added some liveliness to the garden. Another thing I noticed, was that it was tranquil and surprisingly quiet. There were no signs saying that you had to be quiet but, something about the garden... Some unspoken rule was in place where you wanted to talk low when you were going through the trails.

Anyways, when walking through the trails there were a couple of places to sit and chat. Of course, my friend and I were already talking as we walked the trails. Call me old fashioned but, it's always nice to just sit down and talk. Once we finished walking through all the trails we decided to go get some food at a fine dining establishment called McDonalds. A broke college kids' heaven. It was a fun adventure but, there are much more to be had in these next 3 months!

On a side note, I wanted to let you know that there is so much more to the botanical garden than just plants. There are beautiful lights at night, dances and other performances that add to the garden. It was a great place to go to and relax/get a little exercise.

If you are from Arizona then, I recommend checking out the botanical garden. Here is their website.
If you are not from Arizona then, I still recommend that you go to your local botanical garden (if there is one in your state) to see some beautiful plants and learn about what surrounds you in your environment!

Tell me what your favorite plant is in the comments!

Scared to Post?

Hey Clickers,

I wanted to have a little Heart to Heart about my absence on this blog...

Truthfully, I have been worried about posting videos and blogging on here. This is a new endeavor for me and I'm not quite sure how to just jump in.

I'm not used to making videos, vloging and editing. It's a process that is making me doubt my abilities to bring quality content to you guys. I want you guys to like what I do but, I'm afraid it won't turn out too well...

I saw how little I had been posting on here and I decided that I have been idle long enough. I have the time, now all I need is the patience to go through the process of making videos.

So, be prepared!

Poem of the week: The Letter by Bo Burnham

Hey guys!
I thought you guys might enjoy this poem by Bo Burnham. I think it goes with the spirit of Valentine's Day. It is both clever and romantic. Hope you enjoy!

The Letter

I wrote you a letter,
and then another letter,
and another, and another,
until I wrote you a word.

So I wrote you a word,
and then another word,
and another, and another,
until I wrote you a sentence.

So I wrote you a sentence,
and then another sentence,
and another, and another,
until I wrote you a letter.

I hope it finds you as I found you.

Yours truly,
Yours, truly.

Happy Valentine's Day,

Jae

Technical difficulties..

Hey Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing alright.
I just wanted to update you guys on my video situation. No, I have not abandoned this new master piece I call a vlog. It turns out that trying to post a video on here is harder than I originally thought it would be.
Right now I am typing on a Mac computer (the university's) but, I have a Windows computer that I take the videos on and run my blogs through.
I recorded a video on my Windows computer and tried to post the video but blogger wasn't letting it go through.
I'm still trying to figure out the kinks. Hopefully I will have a video up sooner rather later.

Have a great week!
J
